Renegades 93 (16U)

 

Tie For 33rd At ASA 16U A Nationals

 

The Minnesota Renegades 93 tied for 33rd out of 160 teams at the the ASA 16U A Nationals in College Station, TX. With that the Renegades finished the highest of any Minnesota team entered (the next best finished tied for 65th). Only two teams from the Mississippi River to the Rockies (both from Oklahoma) finished higher than the Renegades 93. During the season the Renegades played two of the top 5 finishers at Nationals tying the California Cruisers in pool play at Colorado and losing to the Georgia Southern Force. Also, the Renegades competed against 4 of the Top 20 teams at the ASA's. The Renegades completed against 15 teams that attended Nationals and had a winning record of 15-8-1 a great achievement.

The Renegades organization would like to congratulate all of the players and the coaching staff for their hard work and dedication that they have shown throughout the season and echoing our theme to prepare our players to compete at the highest level. The Renegades, with both the 93 and 94 teams competing, were one of only five organizations that had two teams represented (two each from Georgia and Texas).

 


Renegades 96 (14U)

 

3rd place at USSSA 13U World Series in Des Moines

 

The Minnesota Renegades 96 finished in 3rd place in the USSSA 13U World Series held in Des Moines the last week in July. The team posted a 10-2 record for the week including winning 6 in a row after dropping into the losers bracket.

The team was paced by a strong offensive showing, scoring the most runs of any team (80 compared to 63 for the second highest total), having the second highest runs per game average, and having Shelby Earley win the Tournament Offensive MVP award. Gretchen Nelson, Reagan Williams and Becky Smith each clubbed home runs over the fence and every player contributed key hits and hard hit balls.

The defense was also exceptional and the pitching was very solid. Along the way Renegades 96 eliminated pre tournament favorite and 5th place finisher River Valley Rage (IL) 9-6 and 4th place finisher Indiana Rebels 4-2. The Renegades were eliminated by tournament champion KC Skinners (MO)

Qualifies for ASA A Nationals

 

Minnesota Renegades 96 earned an invitation to the ASA A National Tournament in Moline, Illinois based of their play in the ASA State Tournament in Hastings. Only four teams from Minnesota at 14U are invited to attend by ASA of Minnesota.

 


Renegades 94 (16U)

 

Qualifies for ASA A Nationals

 

The Minnesota Renegades 94 finished in 3rd place in the ASA State tournament, earning a berth to the ASA A Nationals in College Station, Texas. The Minnesota Renegades 93 had previously earned a berth placing both of our 16U teams among the four from Minnesota that earned berths.

The Minnesota Renegades 96 came up just short in their effort to secure a berth to the ASA A Nationals in Moline, Illinois, leaving runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 7th in a 3-2 loss in a game that would have secured a berth.

5th Place At Ringneck, Sioux Falls

 

The Minnesota Renegades 96 finished in 5th place at the Ringneck in Sioux Falls, SD. The 14U field included 40 top teams from 7 states and 3 provinces in Canada.

In pool Play, Renegades 96 was 3-0 including 2 run rule victories. Laura Wolff threw a no hitter against the team from Elkhorn, Nebraska to secure the #1 seed from the pool.

After a bye and win early Sunday, the elimination game against Brandon SD was a thriller. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th with time running low, Shelby Early delivered a 2 out, 2 run single. Alas, the inning ended a bit too quickly and Brandon scored 2 in the 6th to prevail 3-2.

 


Renegades 94 (16U)

 

USSSA State Champions

 

The Minnesota Renegades '94 were crowned the 2010 USSSA State Champions at Erickson Park in Rosemount on June 27th.

Scores, Renegades 8 Vortex 1, Renegades 7 SnoCatz '93 1, Renegades 3 Minnesota Sting Gold 1, Renegades 5 Impact 4, Renegades 3 Rookies Red 1. The Renegades moved through the undefeated bracket and saw the Minnesota Sting Gold as they fought back through the loser's bracket to the Championship game. MSG won the first game 1-0 with a big bottom of the 7th inning walk off single. The "what if" game was won by the Renegades 8-6.

It was a weekend of great team contributions as all players turned in strong play to attain the tournament title. Congrats Renegades '94. With the victory the team was awarded a paid berth to the USSSA "A" Nationals.

 

 


Renegades 93 (16U)

 

1st place Down and Dirty - Playing 18U

 

Renegades 93 took first place in the 18U division of the Down and Dirty tournament June 20th. In the championship game against the Arctic Blast 18U, 93 came back to tie the game 1-1 in the 7th inning and won it in the eighth.

1st Place ASA MN Only Qualifier

Renegades 94 place 4th

 

Renegades 93 earned a berth to the ASA A Nationals by virtue of winning the Minnesota Only Qualifier in Eagan on June 13th. Renegades 93 went through the losers bracket on Sunday, first eliminating Renegades 94 6-5 in 8 innings. Renegades 94 finished in 4th place in the tournament giving the organization two of the top four finishes. Next Renegades 93 ousted the Sting 5-4 setting up a need to win two against the Blizzard. The first games was an easy 8-1 victory which was followed by a 1-0 thriller to earn the championship.

1st place Rookies Tournament

 

In their first appearance of the Spring, Renegades 93 went undefeated en route to winning the Rookies 16U A tournament on June 6th.  In bracket play, the 93 squad posted early season victories over the 16U Sting Gold and the MN Chill before topping the host Rookies in the championship.  A great team effort to start the summer!

 

 

 

 


Renegades 96 (14U)

 

2nd Place Rookies Tournament

 

Renegades 96 opened the tournament with 5 wins allowing only 2 runs. Gretchen Nelson fired a 7 inning perfect game and Becky Smith followed with a no hitter. The championship game with the Wildfire was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The tournament director asked for some volunteers to help try to make the field playable. While the other team sent parents, the Renegades players were manning shovels, brooms and rakes in the rain in an effort to play on. Mother Nature did what no team could do that weekend, defeat the Renegades! The tournament concluded 9 days later, June 15th, when the Wildfire defeated the Renegades 96 in a game that doubled as an MFL league game.

 



2009 Accomplishments and Tournament Results

Congratulations Coaches!!! 

The Minnesota Renegades are happy and proud to announce six of our Renegades coaching staff have been certified from the National Fastpitch Coaches College(NFCC).  "The Art of Championship Coaching" was held at the University of Minnesota November 20th-22nd sponsored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association(NFCA).  The class was a NFCC 400 level class and is offered by the National Fastpitch Coaches College once or twice a year throughout the country. The NFCC is considered to be the top organization regarding softball instruction and has college coaches, high school coaches and travel ball coaches as members. Participants traveled from areas as far away as Kansas, Missouri, Texas, California as well as Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota with a balance of coaches from college, high school and travel ball.  The Renegades had the largest representation at the class with six coaches with only one other coach from Elite League club teams in attendance. Minnesota Renegades '94 Win USSSA Fall State Tournament 

The Minnesota Renegades '94 took the 16U USSSA Fall State Tournament held in Rosemount.  The Renegades went 4 wins with no losses to take the 16U USSSA Fall State.  Both Deb Evans and Tori Workman picked up two wins in the circle as the pitching allowed only four runs for the tournament. On the offensive side the bats were led by Beth Athey and Allison Christ and Allison Schaefer.

In the championship game the Renegades defeated Mn Irish Hahn 2-1 in a hard fought, competitive contest. 

With the win the Renegades qualified for the 16U USSSA "A" tournament for summer 2010.

MMinnesota Renegades '93 16U Take 2nd Place At 18U For MMFL Fall State 

The Minnesota Renegades '93 team playing up at 18U came in 2nd Place at the MMFL Fall State held in Moundsview.  The Renegades played a great game with the Sting Elite in losing 2-0 in the final.

Minnesota Renegades 14U Place 7th In Kansas City

The Minnesota Renegades 14U Placed 7th out of 85 teams at the USSSA World Series in Kansas City, Mo this past weekend.   

The team completed a successful season and had a 43-13-2 record best of any 14U Elite teams in the state of Minnesota.

Minnesota Renegades 14U Are 2nd Place Finisher at the MMFL Elite State Tournament

The Minnesota Renegades 14U team took 2nd place at the MMFL Elite State Tournament this weekend.  The team went 6-2 for the weekend.


Minnesota Renegades 18U Take 1st at the Edina Cake Eaters Tourney

The bats came alive as the Minnesota Renegades took 1st place in the A class at the Edina Cake Eaters Tourney at Van Valkenberg Fields, June 27th & 28th.  9 of the 14 players will be playing college softball next year in college.  This team is fun to watch.


Minnesota Renegades 14U Capture 1st Place In The ASA MN Only Qualifier

The Minnesota Renegades 14U took 1st Place in Mankato as the Renegades came back from the loser's bracket and took two from the Minnesota Sting '94 4-0 & 7-6.   The Sting sent the Renegades to the once defeated bracket with a 3-2 win in nine innings on Saturday. Their season record improved to 25-6-1. The win gives the Renegades a paid berth to the ASA National in Marietta, Georgia


Minnesota Renegades 16U Take 2nd Place In Mankato For ASA MN Only Qualifier

Continuing their strong season the Minnesota Renegades 16U place 2nd for the ASA MN Only Qualifier held in Mankato June 27th & 28th.  Games were held at Thomas & Jaycee Parks fields.  The teams record improved to 25-5 for the season.


Minnesota Renegades 14U Capture 2nd Place at the Rosemount College Showcase

The Minnesota Renegades 14U took 2nd Place at the Rosemount College Showcase, June 20th & 21st in Rosemount.  The Renegades went 5-1 for the tournament with their first loss in the Championship game.


Minnesota Renegades 16U Take 1st Place at the Rosemount College Showcase

 The Minnesota Renegades returned the favor to the Rosemount Gold 16U as the Renegades took the 1st Place spot at the Rosemount College Showcase, June 20th & 21st at Rosemount


Minnesota Renegades 16U Take 2nd At Shootout

The Minnesota Renegades Placed 2nd at the Renegades Shootout held in Orono June 6th & 7th.  The tournament consisted of eight of the top teams at the 16U Elite level.  


Minnesota Renegades 14U Take 3rd Playing At 16U In The Bloomington Tourney

The 14U Minnesota Renegades competed at 16U in the Bloomington Fastpitch Tournament June13th & 14th and finished 3rd in the A or Blue Class.
